Policies & Waivers
By registering for a Warner Nature Center class or camp, you are agreeing to the following:
I understand and agree that I am participating in the Lee & Rose Warner Nature Center's programs voluntarily and at my own risk. I will not hold the Lee & Rose Warner Nature Center and the Science Museum of Minnesota or its officers, directors, or employees liable for any negligence or alleged negligence or other fault (not including intentional acts) that results in personal injury, death, or property damage during or in connection with the above program. The undersigned, for myself and for my heirs, executors, administrators and assigns, hereby releases and forever discharges the Lee & Rose Warner Nature Center, the Science Museum of Minnesota, and its directors, officers, and employees from all such claims. This waiver will be construed according to the law of the State of Minnesota.
I, the undersigned, hereby give my permission for the Lee & Rose Warner Nature Center and the Science Museum of Minnesota to procure all necessary medical help for myself, my child or ward while said person is under the direct supervision of the Lee & Rose Warner Nature Center, and grant permission to its representatives to authorize any competent medical person to do all things reasonably necessary to take care of any injury or sickness. I authorize the Lee & Rose Warner Nature Center and the Science Museum of Minnesota staff to administer emergency medication that I provide. I will ensure that I or my child carries the emergency medication on his or her person at all times.
There is no health insurance or medical coverage provided. The acceptance of these policies acknowledges that the participant/guardian accepts responsibility for payment of any medical treatment which may be required while they are in this program. I agree to the above participant waiver and medical release.
My program registration implies permission to take photographs or videos of participants for Lee & Rose Nature Center and Science Museum of Minnesota promotional or publicity purposes (such as brochures, annual reports, webpages, exhibit displays, newspapers, magazines, or television news). If I wish to revoke this permission, I will attach a written note to this liability waiver form.
Warner can provide transportation to and from the Science Museum of Minnesota in St. Paul for all-day (9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.) classes. Transportation costs $12 daily per child. The van leaves the Science Museum at 8:45 a.m. and returns at 4:15 p.m. Van space is limited and spaces will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis so register early. Van shuttle service is contingent on a minimum number of riders registering each week. Transportation for off-site portions of WNC's summer classes will be provided by WNC, and those transportation costs are included in the class fees.
If you are interested in carpooling with another family, please send an email to [email protected] with your first and last name, phone number and your community. Warner staff will send out an initial email to all families interested in carpooling with this information the first of every month between March, April, May and June. Parents will be responsible for communicating with other parents to establish carpooling.
No refunds will be made unless cancellation is received at least two weeks prior to the beginning of class*. Warner Nature Center reserves the right to cancel any class not meeting minimum registration requirements. If this is necessary, you will be contacted at least two weeks prior to the beginning of that class, and your fees will be refunded in full. Credit card refunds will show up as a credit from the Science Museum of Minnesota. Cash or check refunds will come as a check from the Science Museum of Minnesota.
*All cancellations will have a $30 fee for processing cancellation and refunds, regardless if you cancel two weeks prior to the beginning of class.
We expect the same respect and concern that we will show your children to be returned in-kind when they are visiting the nature center. We reserve the right to expel any child from class who is disruptive or disrespectful, or who jeopardizes her/ his safety or the safety of other class members. Your signing of the registration form states that you have read and understand this policy. If we have a problem with your child, you will be notified by Warner Nature Center staff.
No supervised space is available at Warner Nature Center—please do not drop your children off early or pick them up late, as staff members are not available for extended supervision of campers. Supervised space is available at the Science Museum of Minnesota before and after WNC van pick up and drop off. For more information, call the Science Museum Education Registrar at (651) 221-4511.
Please call WNC at (651) 433-2427, ext. 10 to notify us if your child will not be coming, will be arriving late or if someone other than you is picking up your child.
Camps are limited to 12 students unless noted in the camp descriptions. Each camp has one naturalist instructor and at least one volunteer. Most of our summer camp volunteers are high school or college-age students participating in our summer camp assistant program.
